All Creatures Great & Small in Bunscoil
Wednesday, 18th February, 2026 was certainly an exciting and memorable day in our school! From calves in the yard to the Year of the Horse in the classroom, we have certainly been celebrating animals in all shapes and sizes this week!
First Class pupils were delighted to celebrate the Chinese New Year with a very special visit from Runjing Li, who taught them all about this important festival. As 2026 is the Year of the Horse, the children greatly enjoyed learning about the Chinese zodiac and the traditions associated with the celebration. They created some fantastic artwork inspired by what they learned.
We are extremely grateful for the continued support of our parent community. When parents share their time, culture, skills and expertise, it enriches our pupils’ learning in such a meaningful way.
A sincere thank you again to Runjing for making the children’s learning experience so engaging and memorable.

We were absolutely delighted to welcome Farmer Liam Roche to Bunscoil on Wednesday, 18th February, along with two very special visitors, Cookie and Brownie!
Our girls and boys were so excited to meet the calves and learn all about life on the farm. Liam answered lots of interesting questions, and the children gained a wonderful insight into how calves are cared for and the importance of farming in our community.
The highlight of the day was getting up close to Cookie and Brownie. It was a fantastic hands-on experience that helped our girls and boys learn about kindness, responsibility, and caring for animals.
A huge thank you to Liam for taking the time out of his very busy day to visit us and create such a memorable experience for our girls and boys.
