& Can Recycle Drive
❤️♻️ Please support the Bunscoil Bottle & Can Recycle Drive and help us raise funds for our new Astroturf Pitch. All support from households and businesses is greatly appreciated.👍 Please help us get the word out there. We CAN do it together! ❤️♻️
Our First Day of Recycling was a great success! Thank you everyone for your support. Special thanks to Ms Cahill and Ms Leaden for organising our first recycling trip!
At Bunscoil na Toirbhirte we're always looking for ways to make learning fun, impactful, and connected to the world around us. That's why we thrilled to introduce an exciting new initiative that combines environmental awareness with a great fundraising opportunity for our school. As you all know, we undertaking the very ambitious project of putting Astroturf on our playground. We have finally received an installation date of Halloween. We do however have some money to raise to help to pay for it!
As you may know, Ireland has recently introduced the Deposit Return Scheme (DRS) for recycling plastic bottles and aluminum cans. This scheme is a fantastic step towards protecting our environment, but according to media it seems that many Irish households are not fully participating. This has lead our 6th class pupils and Green School Committee to come up with an exciting idea.
For the months of September and October on a trial basis, we are launching the Bunscoil Bottle & Can Drive. We're asking families to collect eligible plastic bottles and tin cans that have the recycling logo, ensuring they are clean, not crushed, and ready to be returned. We understand that some families may already have a recycling arrangement in place. Instead of watching cans and bottles build up in your home your child can simply drop them to Bunscoil as you use them, ensuring there is no build up in your home and all cans and bottles are recycled- and you would be doing us a big favour!!
Here's why this is a win-win:
1. By participating, you're not only ensuring these items are recycled but also setting a positive example for your children about the importance of environmental care.
2. Each bottle or can returned to us will help raise funds for the school. This money will go directly into exciting new projects for our girls and boys, from playground improvements to new learning materials.
We will have a collection point set up at the near the door of the Senior School and our friendly staff, our Green School Committee and 6th class volunteers will be on hand to help you deposit your items. At the end of September and October, we'll tally up the results and celebrate our collective achievements.
A Few Important Reminders:
*Items must be clean and not crushed.
*Ensure the Re-turn logo is visible.
*The collection point will be available during school hours
We can't wait to see the results. Let's turn recycling into something exciting, rewarding, and beneficial for both the environment and our school.
Thank you in advance for your support and enthusiasm. Let's make this drive a great success!
