‘The Fairy Queen’ comes to Bunscoil
A big thank you to Eileen & Susan at Mitchelstown Library for organising an Author Event with Chrissy Donoghue Ward recently. The weather made it difficult for us to get down to the library but Eileen organised for Chrissy to come straight to Bunscoil instead.
We were delighted to hear Chrissy speak and to answer questions about her new children's book "The Fairy Queen".
Chrissy explained that although having never learned to read or write, she has lots of experience of storytelling and her daughter Elizabeth helped her put one of her tales into print.
It is a magical tale based on fairies, leprechauns and the Irish Traveller community. The pupils got to see the beautiful illustrations by Lithuanian artist Monika Mitkute bring this wonderful story to life.
Copies of Chrissy's book are available in Mitchelstown library and are also available online to buy. It is wonderful for the pupils to see Traveller voices, traditions and culture on display and we plan to add copies of the book to our class libraries.
Thank you again to Mitchelstown Library.
