We were delighted to have Billy Brenock visit us recently. Billy, who lives in Jersey and whose parents are originally from Mitchelstown (Liam Brenock and Eilis Whelan), is currently walking from Malin Head to Mizen Head, over 1,000 km in around 50 days, to raise funds and awareness for the Irish Heart Foundation, Macmillan Cancer Support, and Dementia Support. What a mammoth task!
We were thrilled that Billy took time out to drop in and tell us about his journey so far. Two years ago, Billy’s mother was diagnosed with breast cancer and received vital treatment. Thankfully, she made a full recovery. Inspired by her experience, Billy decided to take on this extraordinary challenge as a way of giving thanks, raising awareness, and recognising the impact the illness had on his family.
To mark Billy’s visit, we held a non-uniform day. Our ever-generous families and staff donated €700 to support Billy’s fundraiser. Well done everyone!
Billy is due to arrive in Mizen Head next Tuesday 18 November, completing his remarkable journey. He truly is an inspirational young man.
