Ms Watson’s Retirement
- SHE WILL BE MISSED -
- SHE WILL BE MISSED -
While we all returned back to school on 05.01.2026, one very special person was not back with us Ms Watson, who has now commenced her well-deserved retirement.
Ms Watson’s connection with Bunscoil is truly remarkable. She first came through our school gates as a junior infant in 1975 and went on to attend the neighbouring Presentation Secondary School. After completing her teacher training, she returned to Bunscoil in 1991 this time as a teacher and remained a treasured member of our school community right up to her retirement this Christmas.
Over the decades, Ms Watson has touched the lives of countless pupils, families, and colleagues. She was known for her kindness, patience, and gentle understanding, creating a classroom where children always felt safe, welcomed, and cared for. Her door and her heart were always open.
Ms Watson generously shared her many talents with our school. Her love of music was at the heart of so many special occasions, from First Holy Communions and Confirmations to choirs, assemblies, and celebrations. She also brought her wonderful sewing skills into school life, encouraging creativity, confidence, and pride in craftsmanship.

At our Carol Service in December, Ava and Stella had the honour of presenting Ms Watson with a truly beautiful and meaningful piece of art. The artwork features an oak tree with colourful leaves created from the fingerprints of our pupils and staff, symbolising the incredible role Ms Watson has played in helping so many children grow from tiny acorns into strong and confident oaks.
On the back, a special message was included for Ms Watson, who has long been affectionately known as Ms Honey, after the kind and caring teacher in Matilda. It is a title that perfectly reflects the warmth, dedication and compassion she has shown to everyone in our school community over 35 years of teaching.
We know this heartfelt piece will be treasured for years to come and with so many fingerprints captured, it is certainly a truly one-of-a-kind keepsake.
A sincere thank you to everyone who helped bring this artwork to life, with special mention to the immensely talented Mr Dineen, whose time, creativity and tremendous effort made this wonderful tribute possible.
