Bunscoil na Toirbhirte, Mitchelstown, Co. Cork
We had a fantastic time at the end of May learning all about the honeybee! Expert beekeeper Mary Barry visited to share her fascinating knowledge with the girls and boys. The children discovered the vital role honeybees play in our ecosystem, their unique habitat, life inside the hive, the plants they thrive on, and how we can help protect them.
And if that wasn’t sweet enough, they even got to taste some delicious honey! A big thank you to Ms. Kirby for organising such a memorable and educational experience.

Speaking of Buzzing .....
Just listen to these busy little bees. Don’t they sound absolutely thrilled!
Our cheerful bumblebees are buzzing with delight. Special thanks to Pat Mullins and Billy for planting them last year, and to Ms. Noreen Conway for lovingly caring for our sensory shrubs and vibrant blooms. Since these vibrant flowers blossomed it’s not just the bees enjoy them, a beautiful scent has been drifting into our classrooms! ”
