World Diabetes Day 2025
at Bunscoil na Toirbhirte
Picture
We celebrated World Diabetes Day this week. Our boys, girls, and staff proudly took part in Type Onesie Day, a meaningful initiative supporting people across Ireland living with diabetes, helping everyone gain a better understanding of it.
A truly special moment was the wonderful presentation and talk followed by questions and answers given by Tessa, Fiadh, and Amelia, who bravely spoke about their experiences of living with Type 1 Diabetes. They were absolute superheroes, helping their classmates and staff understand what diabetes means for young children. We are incredibly proud of them.
We would also like to acknowledge Ms. Keating, a valued member of staff who lives with diabetes herself. Her openness, expertise, and the support she provides to both pupils and colleagues are deeply appreciated.
We also want to recognise the girls’ families. We know that managing diabetes can be very challenging on a daily basis, and we deeply appreciate everything they do for their girls.
Finally, a very big thank you to all the teachers and SNAs who dressed up, joined in the Onesie Day fun, and helped organise the assembly, fun and games, gifts, and personalised balloons. Thanks to them also for the exceptional care, attention, and support you give these three wonderful girls each and every day.
