MAKING MITCHELSTOWN GREENER
We are hosting a Christmas Jumper swap!
We all love a good Christmas jumper, but the trend of replacing them every year is not only terrible for the planet, it's also bad for your pocket. So why not save money, reduce waste and refresh your Christmas wardrobe!
Get involved and bring in any Christmas jumper that is clean and in good condition and while you're here, grab a "new" one! All used Christmas jumpers must be dropped to the school by the 10th of December. Thank you

There was great celebration of this wonderful achievement on 20.06.2023. Special thanks to Ms Hyland and our Green School Committee for leading us in promoting the protection of our environment. We are tremendously proud of this achievement. We were delighted to have our caretaker, Mr Billy Murphy raise the flag on behalf of everyone in Bunscoil. PHOTOS BY ANDREW DINEEN (Thank you Mr Dineen)
Well done to Ms Hyland and our Green-Schools Committee on organising another used battery collection. Thank you to everyone that sent in batteries, helping to make our community a Greener Place to live.
UNIFORM SWAP ....
27.03.2023. As a Green School, we will collect all unwanted uniforms that are in good condition. Our Parents Council will organise a "Uniform Swap" event later in the year. Please note that uniforms can be dropped to the school at any time throughout the year. As well as being good for our environment, we hope it will help reduce family costs. Well done to our Green School Committee and Parents Council for organising this event.

Love of (green) love in Bunscoil on Valentine's Day

On February 14th, Valentine's Day, Bunscoil celebrated a "Love the Ocean" Day. Pupils wore something blue or green and brought in ocean themed teddies. Our Green School Committee and Ms Hyland were busy preparing activities - the senior school enjoyed a Marine themed Kahoot quiz in the Halla and the junior school classes did litter picking relays and seashore games. Classes read stories about sea creatures or watched sea themed movies or documentaries. Others celebrated by creating beautiful Marine art.
Thank you to all families for getting involved and to the Green School Committee for organising the event. Moneys raised from our 50/50 will also go to Seal Rescue Ireland!
Well done to our Green School Commitee and Ms Hyland

2022 Green School tips for a Green Christmas
Over 200kg’s of batteries (that’s a lot of batteries!!) were collected today (15.09.2022). Well done to Ms Hyland and our Green School Committee on making Mitchelstown a greener place to live. Remember to send in any old batteries to our school and we will ensure that they are recycled correctly.
TREE AMBASSADORS
AND THEIR LITTLE TREES
AND THEIR LITTLE TREES
Did you know that Ireland is the least wooded country in Europe? Here at Bunscoil we are trying to change that by taking part in a tree planting initiative. Thank you to all families who put their names into the raffle for our collection of native trees. Here are some of the tree ambassadors and their little trees - we can't wait to see them in their new homes!
