Lidl Farm to Fork Visit for 2nd Class
Picture
On September 13th, our 2nd class girls were fortunate to get to visit the Lidl Farm to Fork experience in Newbridge, Co. Kildare. We travelled by bus. The girls were really excited setting off, and we stopped on the way at Junction 14 for a snack. When we arrived at the Lidl farm, a lovely lady called Róisín from Agri Aware told us about what we would be doing for the day. She then took us out to the farm. We saw all the growing crops and even had the chance to pick some of our own. All the girls went home with potatoes, onions, beetroot and carrots, and we got a giant pumpkin for each class. We also got to meet their cow and her calf and to feed them.
After the farm, we got on the Lidl train for a trip around the huge distribution centre, which delivers food to Lidl stores all over Dublin and Kildare. We had to look out for certain products and mark them off on our list as we went.
It was a brilliant day. Special thanks to Ms. Doyle, Ms Kenneally, Ms. Watson and Ms. McSherry for taking the girls on this trip.
