4th Class Write-a-books
Following a recent launch of their books, 4th class made a visit to the local library on Friday 1st June to display their books. These books can be seen at Mitchelstown library for two week. Look at some of the girls reading their books here.
Football 2012
There has been many blitzes and challenge matches recently with the school team from 4th, 5th and 6th classes. Thank you to Ms O'Brien who has trained these teams and organised these events. Click here to see some of the action.

Cork City Sports
On Friday 18th May, many of our pupils represented our school at the Cork City Sports. Despite the inclement weather conditions, we had some great results and well done to all the girls who participated. Read the details here.
Write-A-Book Project
On 17th May, after a lot of preparation 4th class launched there books at an event in the Halla. Parents and grandparents, teachers and even our cigire attended this event. Every girl in 4th Class has been writing her own book since Easter. Each pupil planned, wrote, redrafted, bound, and illustrated her own book. At this event many of the girls read an excerpt from her book. Afterwards all the girls were presented with a certificate from Ms.Hayes. Well done to all the 4th class girls for their efforts. Mitchelstown Caves - 5th and 6th Class Visit
On the 15th May the 5th and 6th class girls got to visit the Mitchelstown caves. This trip was to thank them for the hard work that they put into the production of the 'Three Little Pigs'. Deep in the caves, in the cavern they sang a few songs from the play. They got to have a treat in Supermacs afterwards and the trip was enjoyed by all the girls. Click here to see the photos.
Three Little Pigs - Choir and Drama Group
On 2nd and 3rd of May, the Choir and Drama Group put on a production of the Three Little Pigs. Click here to see the details.
Lenten Campaign
We raised €1660 during our Lenten campaign. Mrs Twoomey came to collect the cheque after Easter to give to her daughter Regina who is a Presentation sister in Peru. Thank you sincerely to all the children who generously bought tickets.
Easter 2012
Happy Easter to all the pupils, staff and friends of Bunscoil na Toirbhirte. The infant classes had great fun on Friday 30th March 2012 when they went on an Easter egg hunt and had a surprise visit from the Easter Bunny! There were fantasic displays of Easter art throughout the school. Look at some Easter pictures here.
Swimming Gala
15 girls from our school went to the Fermoy Schools' Swimming Gala on Friday March 30th. They won plenty of medals and certificates including the gold medal for the girls 12+ Freestyle relay. They also received the over winner award for the 15-20 pupil category for 2012. Every girl enjoyed the day. Well done girls. Click here for a picture of the competitors.
ESB Handwriting Competition
We had some fantasic entries to the ESB Handwriting competition this year. Well done to all those who entered. To see some 6th class entries and the winning result (2nd in the district competition) click here.
Choir and Drama Group
5th and 6th class are busy preparing for a production of the Three Little Pigs which will be taking place on Wednesday 2nd May and Thursday 3rd May. Watch this space!
Céilí - 16th March 2012
On 16th March 2012, all the chilrdren dressed up in green, white and gold for the Céilí in the Halla. All the classes participated with great displays of dancing, singing and poems. Many parents, grandparents and friends attended at various times of the day. A great time was had by all. Look at the photos here.
5th Class Camogie Team
On Wednesday February 1st we travelled by bus to Whictechurch to take part in the 5th Class
camogie blitz. There were four schools altogether including ours. The girls
played very well and we qualified to play in the semi-final against Scoil
Oilibhéar, Ballyvolane. We won this game played in the final where we were
beaten by Whitechurch N.S. Well done girls. Click here to see a photo of the team.

Christmas Quiz & Visit from Santa
On Wednesday 21st December,
all classes from 1st to 6th participated in quizzes in the halla hosted by
Elaine Lenihan. Everyone had great fun and congratulations to the winners! On
this day, a special visitor came to visit all children in the school - SANTA

Christmas Plays
All the Junior and Senior Infant classes performed their Christmas plays in the Halla watched by their

Christmas Visit from St.Fanahan's 1st Year Pupils
The day before the Christmas holidays pupils from
1st year in St.Fanahan's college came to visit our Junior Infants. They very
kindly gave each pupil in Junior Infants a present. The Junior Infants were
delighted and a big thank you to all involved. Click here to see photos of the visit.
Eucharistic Congress Bell
The Eucharistic Congress is being held in Dublin in June 2012. On Tuesday 22nd December, the
bell came to our school. We said prayers and sang. Various teachers and children
got to ring the bell. It was an honour for the bell to visit our school.
Fundraising
Many thanks to those who participated in the recent sponsored walk. A reminder to those who
have not yet returned their sponsored walk cards - can you return your card to
the school even if you did not participate.

Parent - Teacher meetings took place on Thursday 10th November 2011.
