The story of our 'outdoor Bunscoil Mural'
The outdoor Bunscoil Mural was designed by past pupil Aoibh. Unfortunately, we only got a chance to complete it last night, just in time for our open day today. We think it was worth the wait! Well done Aoibh.
The mural highlights how all differences are respected, celebrated and valued in our school. It tells all how teamwork is to the fore in Bunscoil. The image of the jigsaw is significant. Like schools, jigsaws require a united approach. Sometimes we have to ask for help when completing them. Sometimes we lose a piece, which can be frustrating. Sometimes it takes us longer than anticipated to get the full picture! Each pupil, parent, staff member and class is a piece of the puzzle that, when put together, creates an even bigger picture of knowledge. Like a jigsaw puzzle, school can sometimes be overwhelming, but with patience, resilience and persistence, you can eventually see the whole picture. Like a jigsaw puzzle, school requires you to start with the edges, with what you know, and work your way in. You need to build a strong foundation of basic knowledge before you can tackle more complex concepts. And just like a jigsaw puzzle, there are times when you need to step back and take a break, or ask for help when you get stuck.
Sincere thanks to the amazingly talented Mr Andrew ‘Da Vinci’ Dineen. He lead the project and deserves great praise. Thanks also to Ms Caroline Keating for coming on board to help complete the mural in time for our open day. Thanks also to the many other staff and pupils that assisted.

Mr Wallace organised the visit of artist, Avril O'Brien to Bunscoil last year. Mr Wallace and Avril worked together on an exciting mural project. Children from Junior Infants to 6th class were represented in various silhouette poses in the mural. Bunscoil is a busy place, but we finally completed the mural on Monday last 12.06.2023. Well done to Mr Wallace, Avril and the blast committee. Special thanks to the very talented Ms Keating for adding the all-important finishing touches over the past week. It looks fabulous and brightens up our school. Well done to all involved
