Project Peru 2016
On 20th April 2016 we had very special visitors in Bunscoil na Toirbhirte. Mrs. Úna Toomey and her son Ger came to the school on behalf of Regina, (Mrs. Toomey's daughter) who is working with those in need in Peru for many years. Regina is a past pupil of Bunscoil na Toirbhirte (she was in Ms. Hayes-Brennan's class in school), and she works has worked as a Presentation Sister with the needy in South America for over twenty years.
For the past six years we have fund-raised for Regina's mission, and we know that every single cent goes directly to help those in need. Two of our teachers (Ms. Kearney and Mr. Clancy) have visited Regina and seen the wonderful work she has done. Over the past six years we have raised over ten thousand euro for her work, and this year we raised €2050, which was the biggest annual amount to date.
We would like to to thank Ms. Coughlan who co-ordinates this raffle (for Easter Eggs) and all the children who are most generous. Pictures include Mrs. Toomey and Ger Toomey with the pupils of Bunscoil on the occasion of the presentation of the cheque.
