Our girls in classes from 1st to 6th were very fortunate to have Caroline Casey, Water Safety Officer with Cork County Council, Garda John Hennessy and Bob Dalton and fellow firefighters from Mitchelstown Fire station visit Bunscoil on Tuesday 27th February. The girls visited each of the 3 speakers in their class groups with their teachers. Caroline spoke to the girls all about water safety and about how to spot potential dangers in the water, especially coming into the summer months ahead. Bob showed the girls the Fire Engine and all it entails and spoke to the girls about fire safety in the home. He gave examples of fire hazards that they might not have realised are dangerous. Garda John spoke to the girls about road safety and keeping safe when out and about.
Huge thanks to Caroline, Bob/Mitchelstown Fire Station and Garda John for taking the time to visit our school and speak to our girls. They enjoyed the morning and learned a lot.
