Starbooks Poetry Cafe

Since we returned to school after the Christmas holiday Mr Walsh’s class have been examining and writing some poetry. They started with narrative poems and explored the techniques that writers use to then create their own narrative poems. On Wednesday, they went to Starbooks Poetry Cmafe, where they explored eight different poems and completed various activities at each station. They wrote descriptive poems about tasty custard creams, created mini-dramas to the poem “Please Mrs Butler”, and explored the mood of the poems and the rhyming scheme used. It was great fun and an exciting way to explore poetry.
